The Safeguarding Project

Our parish participates in the Perth Catholic Archdiocese Safeguarding Project and has 3 Safeguarding Officers: Sharon Almeida, Hayley Doan and Sheila Ponnosamy.

The objective of the Safeguarding Project is to decrease the likelihood of sexual predators using Catholic parishes as a place to source future victims, especially children and vulnerable adults.

The primary aims of our Safeguarding Officers are threefold:

1. To educate parents within our parish the risk factors associated with child sexual abuse (CSA) and personal safety strategies and knowledge designed to reduce the risk of CSA occurring to their children.

2. To be the confidential point of contact for anybody in the parish who wishes to disclose any concerns relating to sexual abuse.

3. To ensure our parish fulfils the personnel verification, policy and procedural requirements of the Archdiocese Safeguarding Project.

Help make our Children feel safe!
